Business111 has strengthened its ability to support the UK’s micro and small businesses with the appointment of a high-level Editorial Board drawn from insurance, financial services and entrepreneurship. The new group brings together decades of frontline experience across pensions, risk, marketing and business growth, creating a dedicated hub of expertise to help interpret complex financial and regulatory issues. As small firms face rising compliance pressures and economic uncertainty, the move is designed to ensure Business111 delivers clear, practical guidance rooted in real-world experience.

The move brings together a group of trusted leaders from the insurance and financial sector, alongside experienced entrepreneurs, forming a specialist resource that Business111 can draw on to interpret complex financial, regulatory and policy issues for small businesses.

New members include:

Laurie Edmans CBE

A leading figure in pensions reform and financial inclusion, Laurie brings decades of experience across government, regulation and industry, including founding roles at NEST and the Money Advice Service.

David Dunn

Formerly with Prudential and Fidelity, David combines senior marketing and retirement policy expertise with a strong focus on improving financial outcomes for individuals and businesses.

Mike Tyler

A global risk and benefits specialist with more than 40 years’ experience, including senior roles at Mercer, Lockton and Buck, Mike adds deep insight into regulation, wellbeing and organisational performance.

Peter Byrne

Entrepreneur and strategic marketing specialist, Peter founded and scaled ESPHR before its sale to a PLC in 2022. He brings hands-on business experience and a strong commercial perspective shaped by building and exiting his own company.

Together, the board will act as a dedicated financial and insurance expertise hub, supporting Business111’s editorial programme and ensuring that small businesses receive guidance that is both accurate and practical.

Their role includes interpreting complex regulation, stress-testing advice, contributing to content and acting as a rapid-response resource as new policies and challenges emerge. Crucially, they help translate financial and regulatory complexity into clear, plain-English guidance that reflects how small businesses actually operate.

Liz Barclay, Editorial Lead at Business111, said:

“Small businesses are being asked to navigate increasing complexity, particularly around finance, tax and regulation. Bringing in this level of expertise means we can provide advice that is not only authoritative, but genuinely usable in the real world.”

Tony Fitzpatrick, Co-founder of Business111, added:

“This is about building a trusted resource that small businesses can rely on. These are people who have operated at the highest levels but understand the realities on the ground. That combination is powerful.”

The expanded Editorial Board will support Business111’s growing programme of content, including policy commentary, practical guidance and podcasts, helping ensure that the needs and experiences of small businesses are better represented in national debate.
